David is a pioneer and respected engineer in the UK and European renewable energy sectors and is known for his sound commercial and technical understanding of the full range of renewable energy technologies.

In 1994 he joined the utility National Wind Power (NWP, now RWE npower) where he had oversight on balance sheet project investment decisions. David was Project Director for North Hoyle Offshore Wind Farm, the UK’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm and also helped acquire Rhyl Flats from Edison Mission Energy. David was a founder of the RenewableUK Offshore Steering Group.

In 2003, David became a Director at PMSS and over the next nine years helped grow PMSS from six employees to eighty, establishing it as a respected renewable energy project management consultancy in Europe and North America. David’s development, construction, M&A and operational skills and expertise are internationally recognized. Following the sale of PMSS to TÜV SÜD in 2012, David held the position of Director of Consulting, with responsibility for due diligence, project construction & operations. His time with TÜV SÜD allowed David to widen his expertise to include energy efficiency, biomass and geothermal projects.

David also led the development of a £50MM portfolio of UK solar PV projects for an institutional investor and has recently privately developed a 5MW ground-mounted solar-PV project with the project sold prior to construction in spring 2016. David is also a shareholder in an onshore wind project in Scotland currently pre-construction.

 

David now consults to companies and governments across a wide range of renewable energy technologies, and has recently assisted a European High Voltage Direct Current inter-connector project.
